Where do I put the fob?

    Yesterday when I took the car to the car wash I tried to put the fob into a dashboard slot like I had in my 2004 I discovered there isn't one. Or at least I can't find any and I can't find any mention of one in the owner's manual.

    Am I missing something? What do you do with the fob?

    Same place you put it when you drove to the car wash. The fob only needs to be inside in the driver's area. You must already know this, or you wouldn't be able to drive your car. Perhaps I'm missing something about your question.

    If you are questioning what to do if the fob battery fails, then all you need to do is hold the fob up to a spot on the dash. I believe the spot is the power button, but I can't say for sure without looking it up.

    Tom is correct. The Gen3 internal sensors are stronger. They now recognize the fob when it is on the deck.

    My point was that I did not want to leave the fob lying loose where it can get lost or damaged. Tomorrow I have to have the car in the shop all day for minor body work and I don't want to leave it lying loose.

    I would sugest leaving it in the cupholder, and tell the repair shop to remove it if they have to park the car outside, it is just like any other car key, except its electronic. Most shops are well aware of smart keys by now.

    If you are going to an auto repair shop, I'm sure that you will first have to check in. When doing this, hand over your key fob like you would your key for any other car. Now it is their responsibility.
