Sorry if this is an idiot question but,

Now that I've had my oil catch can installed for 4 months, I'm starting to get a built up of stuff in there and its time to empty it out.

Just... how am I supposed to do that?

There's oil in it, so it's illegal to just dump in the grass or down the toilet. But there's also water, gas, and lord knows whatever else is in that mocha stew, so I can't just put it in curbside-recycling for oil.

Just what am I supposed to do with this?

Put it in the waste oil container. Take it to recycling. Walmart and most auto parts stores take waste oil for recycling.

You can collect the effluent in a used, resealable beverage container and take it to oreillys or the like.

I would then keep the container for that purpose going forward and revisit oreillys asit fills up.

You can take it to the local recycling center on their hazardous waste day.
