I have a 2015 Prius Two with 86K miles. So far very reliable, and would like to keep it past 150K miles if possible. I know this is mostly a DIY thing, but I was wondering if there are any shops in Southern California (I am in San Diego), that can perform the EGR cleaning and perhaps install an oil catch can? Or maybe a willing enthusiast that can help me with this work. Thank you!

Perhaps I shouldn't be overly concerned with this, since it's a 2015 and has improved rings and pistons. I have been following this forum for over two years and I don't recall seeing a thread about a 2015 with a blown head gasket due to EGR clogging. Maybe I missed it...

I do recall seeing a thread of a high mileage (over 250K) 2015 with no major issues...

    Good luck with your 2015(y).

Almost any shop could do the work. A dealer won't normally clean a clogged egr cooler, instead they will replace it and the egr valve for $800-$1000. Most independent shops will suggest that route as well since the labor to clean it can take hours. So a good hybrid shop that will clean or exchange the cooler is a key factor. Some have bought egr coolers off of ebay and cleaned them ahead of time to make the shop labor less.

Thanks for your replies. I really like my 2015, drives extremely nice and I certainly appreciate the gas savings specially now :)

I will inquire with @RightOnTime. I know the dealers are in absolute denial about this, and prices for a complete new EGR replacement is certainly beyond what I would like to pay...

Excellent advice about getting a used cooler and clean it prior. I am somewhat mechanically inclined and may even try to attempt to do the complete job, but then again I'm so pressed for time and of course, I'm afraid I will mess something up in the process...

My significant other drives my other Prius: a 2008 with 270K miles and it's still going strong!

2015 Two with around 61k miles. I went to HybridPit last month for my EGR cleaning. Great group and showed me around and explained everything. Here are pics of what my system looked like: EGR cleaning at 61k pics | PriusChat

I been trying to start a conversation with you on this forum to no avail.

If you are able to send me a PM, please do so. I am interested in performing the work with your shop. Thanks!

Businesses are conducted over business phone or company email, definitely away from public online forums.

Noted. But I am not able to send a private message to anyone for some reason. Not necessarily to conduct a business transaction...

I've found they're not the most responsive on email / social media. But never had an issue getting a hold of them via the phone.

Can anyone here post the cost that you paid/charge for the EGR cleaning?

Warm up by removing the EGR cooler lower bracket retaining nut. Bonus points if you can back out the associated stud (E8 Torx socket required). This is doable without removing anything else, and if you can manage it the rest is a cakewalk. :)

Just emailed the shop to schedule an appointment for next Monday the 9th. Early in the morning. I also left a couple of voicemails. Thanks!
