Who had the 1st Hybrid

    I have heard it said by honda Clan, that their Hybrids are the first & orginal Hybrid. On the other side I hear the same from the Toyota Clan, Which is it? <_<

    Sounds kinda like the Hatfields & the McCoys... :lol:

    Technically, the first modern hybrid passenger car was probably the Audi Duo, back in 1989...

    Why have we not heard more about the Audi?

    My answer would be:

    1997 - Prius introduced in Japan
    1999 - Insight is 1st hybrid in US
    2000 - Prius introduced in US

    I was thinking it was a bicycle, but I suppose it depends on your definition of 'hybrid'. :)

    I went to the Petersen to see it. Very interesting. Technically it was designed to run as either electric or gas and somehow combined the disadvantages of both. They also had some 70s hybrids, plus the George Barris "pimped" Prius.
