Update took no more than 45 minutes. Seem to get more battery bars now. Scangauge shows higher SoC.

I had my prius done today. It took them 2.5 hours. They said everything tested normal before the updating.

Glad to hear it shouldn't take long, hopefully I can get it done with my 15k Toyotacare visit.

This is intriguing. Can you please provide more information about what you mean?

Battery bars now near the top. Before update Scangauge showed around 67% charge, now around 70%. Battery seem to recover a lot faster. Will monitor and report back in a few days.

Santa Monica, Ca refused to preform the recall unless I had a written note from toyota. I explained my car was effected according to the toyota owners site, he didn't care. I asked him 3 times, 'the only way you will preform this safety recall is if I have a letter from toyota?" He said YES.

    They are clowns & crooks.

    That's ridiculous.

I'd make a complaint through Toyota Customer Experience, and just let them know what you were told and how you were treated.

And I'd find a different place to take my vehicle.

The Toyota Owners website just says you're part of the recall and that you should schedule it as soon as possible. It doesn't say to wait until you get the official letter. What would happen if it got lost in the mail?

Obviously a prime candidate for the worst dealership of the year. No customer care skills, no communication skills, Clueless and should be avoided like the plague. Complain to Toyota asap

Maybe people should post dealers and persons name on here so we can help each other out with crappy service and people?

A "List of Dealers who lack customer empathy" would be good. It should be a stickey and featured at the front of the forums so it can be easily referred to and updated......

Not a bad idea. I have always taken my cars to a small garage who a family friend owns, so when I had to bring my car to the dealer for the first time ever, I was nervous. All you hear are horror stories and I didn't want to add another one to the list. But from start to finish my experience was great at boulder toyota. They even did the reverse beep at no charge. Highly recommended. And I will probably be getting oil changes done there too (but don't tell my mechanic).

Mine took 3 hours yesterday with an appointment, (Was told only 2 techs could do the update and I saw a lot of Prius's streaming in for service) Performance wise it's the same but I did note a change in behavior when I got off at work and it was 46 degrees outside. Usually it takes awhile to warm up before the heat comes on and it runs at stop lights but last night on the same route when I came to the first stop light the heat was on two bars and the car turned off at the light and it never turned on while waiting for the light to change. It's also a little more smoother when the gas engine engages but that could just be the butt dyno.

The notes stated that they updated the Engine ECU, Hybrid ECU and the Battery Controller. I noticed that it keeps a higher SOC and last night the trip computer stated 61.5 MPG which has never been that high when it's cold out. I'm sure that they included some improvements with the software without saying anything.

Edit: Forgot to say that I asked them nicely and told them while the computer was connected could they turn the reverse beep down to one free of change and they said yes.

I'm dropping mine off tomorrow morning. They quoted four hours, but they're also taking care of the brake booster recall.

got mine done on friday... dealer didnt say anything and was great about getting it in right away and fixing it. They even changed my reverse beep to one beep for free while they were re-flashing the ECU. And it only took them an hour.
Car seems to run better on the freeway.. but it could just be in my head.

A lot of you are asking dealers to change reverse beep to one beep with the software flash.

To those who already have this setting, does the software flash revert it back to continous beeping, or does it leave the setting at one beep?

    Thanks. :)

    Hmm.....

I suppose the "good" thing thus far is that the feedback from the recall seems to be either "No Change" or "Better Than Before".

Haven't yet had a comment where somebody imagined or thought performance declined.

I might have to lower my paranoia in this matter to DEFCON 3.

Print this out and tell them to read item Q2b from Toyota corporate:

    https://techinfo.toyota.com/techInfoPortal/staticcontent/en/techinfo/html/prelogin/docs/cp/e0etofaq.pdf

"Q2b: Do I need my owner letter to have the remedy performed?
A2b: You do not need an owner letter to have this recall completed; however, to assist the dealer in confirming vehicle eligibility, we request that you present this notice at the time of your service appointment."

It's very clear in stating you do not need the letter from Toyota. If the dealership will not comply, complaints to Toyota as well as to the dealership owner, Better Business Bureau, Bureau of Automative Repair, and the NHTSA are in order.

    And give them hell too.

I had the software update done yesterday. It didn't change the reverse single-beep setting.

It may be that the technician makes a note of the state of the reverse beep and re-programs it. I don't think it hurts to inform them when you go in that your reverse beeping is disabled and to please make sure it stays that way.

I agree and i would tell them that you are filling a complaint against them with all those places and plan on NOT recommending them to anyone who ever asks and you plan on doing nothing but telling everyone how terrible of a dealership they are.

I have done this to places.. really scares them and they get their act together after that
