Why are people obsessed with Lindsey Lohan ?

She has a good publicist.

Lindsey was cute as a button at age 11 in "Parent Trap". She is a classic American beauty, take a look at her in the movie "A Prairie Home Companion". She has a very small role, but she looks her age (19 at the time) and has classic features that should get her a lot of work.

Unfortunately she hangs with the wrong crowd, lives in a horrible town (Hollywood is a dump and full of people who want to glom on to stars for their own purposes) etc.

What Lindsey should do is move to NY or even better, London. Get on the stage and hone her acting skills. Maybe go to The Actors Studio or some other school like that. I believe in her, and hope she can get through this phase. She needs to get off the drugs and out of Hollywood.

There is a very, very good reason Lindsey Lohan should make front-page news: Neither Paris Hilton nor Britney Spears have done anything for the past couple of days.

Really? Wow. Where is your cave, and is it true you don't have any news outlets there? I mean, she is on our local news...and in the paper...and if you go to many a Internet news site, she is on there.

As to the OP, it's easier to hear about celebrities and their problems then the real problems we have in our world. Sadly.

People love to watch a trainwreck. With celebrities, you get to see it unfolding in real time. She also likes to show her hoo-haw as often as possible, which is a real draw for the younger crowd.

Why do people like soap operas? Because drama sells very good to people bored in their daily life. I guess watching stupid drama is better than creating their own.

BTW, her name is spelled "Lindsay", but googling her name with the misspelled first name still brings up over 1 million hits, and indication of how big this obsession is!

I actually thought she played the part in "A Prairie Home Companion" pretty well (I wonder what is the intersection between Lindsay's fans and public radio listeners?). I've only seen her in a few other roles (I have two daughters, so I get to watch all these "tween" movies) and she just impressed me as a typical teenage actor; nothing special. I did like the Prairie Home Companion movie and I listen to the radio program frequently, but I thought that Garrison Keillor came off as somewhat aloof and cantankerous (more so than usual).
