why is it that some people have 'ignore' buttons under their posts, and some do not, seeminly limiting my ability to ignore whoever i choose?

Good question. I don't know. I'm pretty sure you can't ignore Mods or me :)

We can't ignore ourselves, either. I'd find that really useful to be able to do when I'm spouting complete rubbish. ;)

Maybe those who are more vocal are more likely to have the ignore 'feature' in their posts? :)

I never noticed an ignore button and after reading this thread I went looking for them -- I still don't see any. However, if I go to the "Buddy" tab of my profile I can add users to an ignore list.

Is the ignore button perhaps related to what IM client you're referencing in your profile?

    I feel somehow deprived.

i don't think so, if it were, there would be an IGNORE button under my posts that took up half your screen

interestingly, you don't have an 'ignore' button under your posts in my screen either, whereas others do. i just noticed you are a moderator. that might explain it.

Hehe, as a mod, I cannot ignore anybody. I had no idea that such a function existed untill this thread.

you know you are right. for one thing you dont have an ignore button and neither does Dianne.

hmmm strange... i was wondering that maybe i have already put you on the ignore list so that is why the option no longer shows up for me. but then i checked my ignore list and there is no one on it...

Then i thought, maybe i cant ignore anyone on my buddy list, and so i checked that and no one is on that one either.

so who can you see that isnt

    1) Danny
    2) a Mod

that doesnt have an ignore button?

Would it be possible to have an ignore button for topics? Forums are highlighted as long as there are "unread" posts in any threads. It would be nice to say "I don't care about this thread" so any unread posts do not cause the forum to be highlighted.

i sort of agree with that but in the meantime i started making better use of the 'mark all posts as read' link. i go down the list, read/respond to those that interest me, and then hit the 'mark all as read' list and it cleans out the rest.
