Rings, bearings, etc nearly impossible to find.

Probably because there's so many cars on the road these days that an engine swap from a low mileage wreck is way, way, way cheaper in both parts and labor time.

As in threads on PriusChat regarding engine rebuilds don't consider that very often for a reason.

As in the last time I saw an auto shop selling a great price on a "ring & valve job" was in early 1980's...

Problem is it's getting harder to find low mile wrecks, way more feasible 10 years ago, but now the last 2nd gen rolled off the assembly line 14 years ago.

You keep telling yourself that, but from what I've researched that's not true.

Are you saying you can't get them from Toyota? I mean I could understand some shipping delays since they don't sell many.

Now, I can completely understand not being able to get those parts from sources other than Toyota- nobody needs them. These aren't old Chevies that needs bearings every Wednesday just to last past Friday.

Also you can expand your wreck search: the Prius c used the same 1NZ-FXE engine up through 2019.

You can get low mileage takeouts from the JDM suppliers in the one NZ without issue like is mentioned above they were used in the Prius c through 19 I'd love to have a late model NZ the stuff in my old generation too probably never get there I just buy a c.

Same engine, but a lot of differences. Just looking at the, the position and angles of the coolant hookups are different

Oh, you'd have to dress it with the fittings and accessories from your old one no doubt, and there might be another difference or two to solve... but I think that's pretty reasonable overall.

    have you tried RockAuto.com?

WOW, never mind, I just looked and although they have everything under the sun listed for the engine, once you select it, most show as out of stock.
