Why are manhole covers 2-3" deep? (will literally wreck the suspension over time)...especially when there are a million on a single road.
Why do they install speed bumps that are 90 degrees instead of 30 degrees like everywhere in the world? (will literally take out the axles even at 1mph).

Also, when do we get the tax credit for repairing our vehicles that are damaged by these things over time.

Interesting note on that point. Up here in Anchorage the covers used to be proud of the road and so many grader operators where getting injuries (from the blades hitting them) from plowing the snow that they recessed them. They are usually not that deep however.

Poor road maintenance. Here in Edmonton quite a few people have sued the city for damage to the suspension and they usually settle out of court. They learned after loosing big time -in- court.
The manhole covers (is that sexist?) are supposed to be flush with the pavement. When they repave the road they are supposed to dig them out and add/subtract whatever spacers are necessary to ensure they are flush with the finished pavement.

If you live in the colder climate, Over winter with the colder temps, They actually sink. it's not due to lack of repair and so forth.

Each time a road is repaved, the manhole covers get a little deeper. This continues until either the pavement is removed or the covers raised, both of which cost more money.
