    New to Prius
She on the east coast babysitting the grandkids for the last 6 weeks.
She is use to BMW with heated seats
Was talking with her this morning and she was compalining it was cold in the car, so I thought to myself wait 5 mins for a hot flash :D
I will probably get heated seats installed once she gets back
Are the Prius, like a TDI which really does not get as warm as a old techonlgy car?
I tried a search, really did not find much
    Any thing I should do

In the USA, the 2010 Prius IV with solar has heated seats, not sure why it would be different in canada.

In the US, Prius IV and V have heated seats options. But my understanding is that you cannot install them as separate items after you bought the car. Installing aftermarket seats may not be practical money-wise. It may even void your waranty.

Just for grins, have her feel in the compartment underneath the console, towards the front of it (sort of under the Gearshift and to the Left Front), there IS a 12 Volt outlet there, if the car is equipped with Heated Seats, they'll be located to the LEFT of that 12 Volt Outlet, It's fairly hard to find, so have her look in the opening of the console on the drivers side towards the front to see if there are TWO buttons stacked above each other, if so, the TOP button is the Drivers Heated Seat button, the LOWER one is for the Passenger seat.

    GOOD LUCK!

I believe, you only get heater seats with leather, they should have a northern climate package, heated seats in cloth, heated wash fluid and block heat, I rather have this then 6 cd changer
I had seat heats installed in GMC pick up works great for the last 5 years and had a price of $500 to install the heaters in the Prius, $1600 to install leather and heaters
Not 100% sure if we want leather, but only a grand to leather it may not be a bad deal

Is it only the seats that she finds uncomfortable? Does she know how to set the air temperature in the climate control?

If she is using eco mode and the climate control is set to auto, the fan runs slower, so she should take it out of eco.
You can install seat heaters without replacing the seats.

I do not think she use the eco mode,
she would probably have the temperture set to a high temperture
The BMW heat is also set by turning the temperture to a high #

It appears that leather seats and nav aren't available except in the technology package, the most expensive version--is that true? That would be very different from the packages here in the US.

I don't know. I found the heater to work well (coldest so far has been -5°C or thereabouts). Then again, I have the grille blocked.

Yeah but you also have a Prius III w/ Solar and that's fairly close to our Premium w/ Solar package (add 3-dr SKS and auto-dimming mirror)

Yup. Packages have always been different. For example, in 2004, there were 9 packages available for the Prius in the US. In Canada, there were 2 - base and fully loaded.

Ugh.. It may be factory leather but it's strictly leather seats only. No steering wheel or door panels. On the basis of that, it's quite a pricey package. Ironically, it gets you 2-stage heated seats while the factory one comes in 1 stage only.

    Here's a gas saving solution.
Park the car half a block away and walk to it.
By the time you get there, you will be sweating profusely and not need an electrically heated seat.

Really, that is the greenest solution.

In Ontario winter, you more likely turn into popsicle when you get there. (-20C (-4F) is the normal here!):D
