    Hi everyone,

Was wondering if anyone could identify this wire. My father in law purchased a 09 Prius on ebay that was apparently a repo of some sort. We can't get any lights to come on but except the backlight to the power button when we put the fob in the slot. We this this wire may have something to do with it

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to PriusChat!!
It looks aftermarket, and might be related to some lighting product.

Where in the vehicle did you find the wire?

What voltage are you reading at the 12v jump point under the hood?

How many miles on the 09?

FYI : your moderated until you've posted 5 times.

That does look like it used to be some kind of aftermarket headlight wiring (before it melted) that had been plugged into the car's headlight connector.

For your car, does the remote unlock the doors? Does the mechanical key work in the driver's door lock? Does anything else (electrical) work on the car? - headlights, tail or brake lights, dome light, ANY warning lights on the dashboard at all? Foot on the brake pedal (again- do brake lights work), press twice on the power button- any response?

What does the 12V battery read (with a digital voltmeter) at the battery terminals and at the "jumpstart" point under hood?
