anyway, my mom has a chevy tahoe, it replaced her chevy blazer. of course she complains about gas, her reasons for buying? it's safe (cause it's big), she can see better (cause she sits higher), and my step-dad can haul stuff in it if needed. also she got it cheap due to step-dad buying it from the dealership he works at for $500 over what was given for it at trade-in. at least they have the malibu for my step-dad to commute in. i don't think i could ever talk her out of an suv. and she doesn't have the money for a new hybrid.

oh well, some people just think bigger is better, and there's nothing you can do to change their minds.

Yes- I can see. My interpretation of the story is that it's about a woman who drives around in a oversized, gas-guzzling combat vehicle- damn the environment or our addiction to oil. I don't see her race as anything more than incidental.

I mearly pointed out that she was a person of color, she was driving a popular choice of vehicle becides the escalade that is concidered a status quoe among some groups.. Watch mtv cribs, BET programming you can see it too. Again mearly an observation.

 

I would like to ask this woman, what about her vehicle makes her feel safe?
Will she feel safe when she is in a minor accident and she kills other drivers because of the sheer size of her vehicle?

Damn straight. I have no doubt that her attitude is one of 'screw everyone else so long as I got mine' which, come to think of it, probably defines the attitude of most (if not all) H1 drivers.

IOW, the kind of person who, if everyone else were driving around in H1-sized vehicles, would probably drive around in a customized armored personnel carrier.
