    ”No good deed goes unpunished”

My daughter borrowed our van and we got their 2010 Prius (3?) to use. She mentioned that the low beams had both suddenly stopped working.

I picked up a couple of H11 replacements, and replaced the drivers side. After much effort got the passenger side out. Struggled for a long time- never could get it seated.

Eventually it flashed in my head that I may have turned it clockwise to get it out.

If I stripped the seating, what am I now in for? (gulp)

I don't believe there's any turning with headlight bulbs. You unclip it and pull straight out

Was the gasket left on the previous bulb?

Sometimes that happens making the clearance difficult and not able to reseat.

No, I pulled the old gasket off. But for the life of me I can’t get the new one to take.

As you know it’s a real pain getting to the socket, even after removing the hex bolt in holding the air intake(?). I didn’t remove the wwasher tank but might so that I can get a better look at the opening to see if I trashed the “thread” by turning it clockwise to remove.

Can’t find anybody posts where anybody has admitted being as dumb as me. I was working so hard trying to get a grip and turn with a couple fingers that I lost track and turned it the wrong way. Wondering what I might be in for if I have to replace the whole thing.

Mine you had to turn to remove for the 2012, not sure if it’s those annoying prongs that holds the bulb in place.

You could always try an inspection mirror prior to more disassembly;).

But if you got the gasket, it’s one less thing to consider :).

Good luck and keep us posted (y).
