WSJ: GM offering deep discounts on Saturn, Pontiac

    There goes the resale value on Pontiacs and Saturns, as if they hadn't already been hit badly by the news that the brands were going away.

    Yeah, I saw the reports about this on the news yesterday. The first report I saw though did not mention how the vehicles were being sold as used while the others did. That's an important point which should not be left out...

    The report I heard on Public Radio said that the full new vehicle factory warranty is in place although the vehicle is sold as "used". If you want a Pontiac or Saturn this sounds like a good deal.

    I wonder what part of our post bankruptcy / tax dollars is allowing GM to cut prices. Maybe with all that freshly printed money in their coffers there's really no point in making a profit. Same with their extended warranty. It doesn't matter if the new cars spend a substantial time in the pit getting fixed if the company doesn't pay for it ... rather WE do.
    I should have worked for AIG.

    If I could get the Pontiac Vibe for $7000 less than a comparable Toyota Matrix, I might buy one.
