A few months ago I had performed testing on a few VVT solenoids to see if any functioned "better" than the rest- specifically the Red Bullet. Purchased from RedBullet.net. Turns out that they now sell a solenoid from "Chiayi Racing" with a RB sticker on it. Don't know if that unit is the same as the "real" RB but made in a different color, or if the company was sold, or they got a better price by switching suppliers.

I am still curious about how the real RB functions, so I am looking to purchase, or borrow (rent?) a "genuine" RB VVT solenoid for a Gen2 if someone is willing to part with one (even for a few weeks). After testing it can be returned. Also might be interesting to have some close up pics of the oil ports on the RB if anyone can do that to see how they are different from OE.

@Max Taiwan should be jumping all over this to get an opportunity for real third party testing to prove the part!!

I recently had my engine replaced with a a fresh rebuild.
After driving it for a 2k miles break in, I changed the oil and slapped the Red Bullet back in and man I missed the peppiness it puts in a prius.

Paying special attention to sounds, coolant temp and rpms.
I can tell very easily that the Red Bullet increases power while also keeping the rpms lower than normal.

I have been using a prius app to watch things OCD style.

The nice thing about mr_guy_mann's project is it might give the rest of us the kind of data that don't require relying on a forum poster just claiming to tell very easily and watch things OCD style.

If you couldn't tell that the car had more power, but the car actually had more power, then I wouldn't call it bogus.

Don't really care about any claims about performance or economy- I just want to see if the RB solenoid changes cam timing any faster.

Is yours a Gen2? Can I borrow it for testing? After all, it's a "proven performer"!
