XM subscription pricing

I"m not sure either.. I think its simliar to how the cable companies can enable or disable your cable TV box on the fly with the appropriate numbers.
I doubt there is an up-link.. prob just have your registration on file from the dealer... not sure what you do if you sell the car.. I suppose you call them and you have to coordinate credentials with them.. just guessing.

 

Renewed my subscription today

My 1 yr $77 + royalty fee subscription was due to run out next week so I tried to renew on line. The only thing available on line came to about $186/yr.

I gave them a call and waded through the voice mail system and got through to someone in a far away land. She told me the $186 was all they had and there were no special offers available. I said OK cancel my subscription, it was not an idle threat. She said she would transfer to the cancellation department.

After about 5 to 10 minutes on hold a very nice lady who spoke English with an American accent came on and I told her I was unwilling to renew at $186 per year. She said "I have a special offer available at $86 per year". I said "I'll take it". So if that renewal happens as scheduled I'm OK for another year of XM.

Let me know if your new subscription goes through. I had the same experience about no specials available. I was not sent to the cancellation department though as the guy on the phone said that he would take care of the cancellation !

Mine expires at the end of the month.

Will do Dwight, looks good so far. The pending charge on my credit card is for $86.35 which is the amount I was quoted. She said I would receive a confirmation email, I'll let you know when it comes in. I remember reading somewhere that sometimes you have to call more than once to get the right price? Pretty weird way to do business.

 

I called XM and after experiences similar to others above, also received the $77 annual rate, plus fees for a total of $88. But I declined to pay by credit card because of people on PC warning about XM continuing to charge their cards aftger they canceled.

So XM sent me a bill. Sure enough, $88 for a year starting now, BUT they added $42 for last month, the month between when the trial ended and the new year started. Sorry XM, no deal.

Yes, it looks like mine went through, my new 1 year contract is on the My Account page at their web sight and the charge to my credit card is correct.

I think mine might have been a couple of dollars cheaper ($86 vs $88) because I renewed 10 days early and they knocked a couple of bucks off for terminating the old contract a little early. I know others have had a lot of problems with XM but so far they have treated me pretty good once I got through to a U.S. call center.

Interesting timing for your latest post. I just got off the phone with XM Cancellation Department and got the similar deal you describe above. They also gave me credit on the new subscription since I renewed about two weeks early. My new total was $93 with royalty fees and taxes.

Once I got through to the Cancellation Department I talked to a really nice guy that was extremely helpful. Even asked how my day had been and wanted to know about the weather in NC while waiting for the account information to update with my new half-price subscription renewal.

I checked my online account a few minutes later and everything had already been updated. I am good until 11/11/11 !! Did not realize that until I just typed that out. Should be easy to remember !

I just renewed year #2 on the $77/year plan....

 

The $77/year plan is definitely still available, but as others have said, you may have to call multiple times to get the right person to discuss this with. Following Tumbleweed's advice, it appears that the Cancellation Department is the place to go.

 

I just renewed mine for $88 for the year.

 

Pandora is Free and available along most major highways. Sprint Nav also comes free with your cell phone and also alerts you of traffic conditions. And with BT, it does it through your car Stereo just fine.

I haven't found the need to subscribe to XM yet.

(Back up iPod can handle tunes when I'm lost in the woods)

Edit: Oh, and I forgot, Sprint Nav gets it's maps from online, thus no need for updates from Toyota at $200+ a pop in the years to come.

 

My three month free trail ends Dec 22, 2010. I called the PROMO number that others on this thread have listed: 1-877-224-8720. The woman who picked up asked me if I wanted to subscribe. I said I understood there was a discount rate available if I talk to the "Cancellations" or "Promotions" department. She said she would connect me... The Cancellations guy said yes, the "Year's subscription 50% off" is available. So the final rate was $88.78 for the year. :rockon: They will bill me. He also explained that I would be renewed after the year at the full rate. So I need to mark my calendar to call again next year for the same game.

I also asked how much more I need to pay for the traffic service. The answer was approximately $9.99/month. It appears they do not discount the traffic service if they have already discounted the audio.

all the mail I got from them never talked about the lower price, but they finally sent one after my trial expired. also tried calling a few times but i never picked up.

 

What deals are available if you want to add Best of Sirius? I tried searching the threads and couldn't find any information.

 

I just renewed my radio on 11/29 (4 days after my 3 month trial ended) for 6 months at $4.99/month (XM everything package). This seems like a pretty good deal, and I haven't seen anyone else on this threads that got this promo.

 

i went with Pandora as well streamed via BT to the audio (not cordless however as i have to plug phone into charger most of the time!!)

after trying it in many places i get service better than 98% of the time. i still have my i pod for the rare times that i have extended outage periods (which only happened in the more remote areas of the Northern Cali coast)

as far as the cancellation process; that is standard amongst every media provider i deal with. Comcast standard internet rates are like $55 a month. right now i am paying $40 because i cancelled it (do it every summer) and they kept hounding me so i turned it back on right after our return from Disneyland.

i figured that i have paid Comcast's "regular" price about 9 months out of what will be 42 months in May when we go back to regular pricing again. in May, i will review my options

 

My husband just renewed his cm on his Nissan on Monday and on Tuesday he said he wished he didn't because he likes Pandora better. Pandora is a great product.
