Yellow icon on top right corner of MFD

    So i was driving "my love" down the parkway mind my own business a bit pissed off with the cold weather and the loss of 5 MPG on my trip to work ... :) when I looked at my MFD and i saw this yellow square on the top right corner of the screen ... there wasnt anything else no warming lights on the front console or anything ... so i dont know what it was .. does anyone know what it was?... because that one kinda got me worried ... I dont want "my love" to die .... :( by the way "my love" is a 2007 Prius base model :)

    Did it blink and go away shortly thereafter? Was it a copy of the
    "snowflake" icon? You didn't include a picture...

    it's the snowflake icon, I'm fairly sure (esp. since you said it was yellow).

    It comes on when the temp drops below 37°F

    I agree. At 34F a warning will flash on the MFD for a second or two. One needs to be looking at the MFD when the temp changes to 34F to notice. The good news is that this silly icon isn't on the dash as in prior years.

    It's time to block the grill. "Frost on the car. Frost King in the grill." Blocking the grill will keep the ICE warmer longer. After I blocked my grill my winter mpg didn't drop. Also check your tp. Lower tp decreases mpg.

    Mine shows at 37°F. It's always nice to know when it turns 37°F. :rolleyes:

    Thanx guys .. it was the snowflake ... I was driving back from work and it popped up again .. and I notice that the temp was 36F so when I got home .. I took my ac which was in the garage placed a 3in flex pipe in front of it and turned it on .. in front of the car where that funny lonely sensor is at and wouldnt u know it .. once it got to 36F on the ac .. my bro saw the light pop up again .. :) and it looked like a snowflake.. :) "my love" is alright after all

    Now .. just a question there guys .. how do I "block" my grill? Sounds silly to me but if it improves mpg i am all for it .. :)

    It depends on the expected amount of snow fall in your area. Usually four short pieces of a 2x4, 4x4, or 6x6 will do-- the more snow, the larger the piece. Have one person lift one end of the grill (removing the propane tank first will make it a bit lighter), while the second person slips the pieces of wood under the wheels/legs. Repeat on the other side of the grill. Therefore, if you are in an area that receives a moderate amount of snow and you used the 4" blocks, you can be standing on 4" of packed snow and the grill will still be at the height you are used to in the heat of summer.
