Yes, there is smart key on LE and SE trims but only for the driver's door and ignition

There has been a lot of misinformation on this, even misinformation coming from Toyota/Toyota dealers!

I skipped through the 2023 Prius manual:
    • LE and SE trims do have a smart key.
    • However, there are antennas only on the driver's door and ignition—not on the passenger's door and back door.
    See page 131 for details.

Back in the day, we called it 1-Door SKS vs. 3-Door SKS (Smart Key System). It's the only scenario that makes sense. They are not going to produce two different key/fob designs for different trims of the same car!

I don't know about the current Gen4 regular Prius lineup, but for the current generation PP, LE has 1-Door SKS and XLE and Limited have 3-Door SKS. So, that assignment is no different for the upcoming Gen5 Prius lineup then.

It can be seen in the configurator that the drivers door has the markings on the handle that indicate keyless entry. I'd normally think configurators aren't 100% accurate but with the Prius I've seen everything accurate as advertised and more with immaculate detail.

This will be my first new car and I've only ever touched a push button start once in my life (girlfriend's Accord), so I'd say my standards are pretty low, but I'm excited for what the LE has to offer and I think it's more than anyone thinks as there have been several noticeable typos in Toyota's writing about it.

Toyota does so with other models. It just seemed unlikely with the Prius considering how long the base trims have had 1 door SKS.

Yeah. Doesn’t the base RAV4 Hybrid make do with a key?

In markets that get the 1.8L engine, the LE's could get that, and the SE the 2L. Also once saw Canada get SE while the US got LE for a car model.

Prius HEV has the LE trim, Prius Prime PHEV has the SE trim. It was the OP's way of saying both base trims will have 1-door SKS. The manual does not refer to trim names at all.

Yes, the base trim for Prius is called LE whereas the base trim for Prius Prime is called SE because Prius Prime has more horsepower than Prius.
