I don't have a digital camera to take a photo of my car, and the avatar gallery only has two pictures in it--a Classic and some funky looking vehicle (cute, but not a Prius!). Does anyone have suggestions as to where to find an appropriate picture? Is there going to be a "default" picture eventually or just nothing as it currently is?

    Thanks!

Strange, I didn't realize all of the stock avatars weren't showing up. I'm working on it, but not sure why it's not showing up correctly.

Danny, now the funky little car is gone from the gallery and the only one left is the Classic Prius. Maybe if someone chooses something from the gallery it is only a one-use thing instead of staying on there for multiple uses?????

Many thanks. I'll stick with the one I borrowed from texassalsa04. Fortunately, he did not mind.

It looks so much like my car, except for the immaculate groundskeeping (I don't know of these things).

So i finally got the picture down to less than 15 KB. :D

Now I get the message "no greater than 150 pixels, the height no greater than 100 pixels." :(

Please, someone tell me, how do I shrink a jpeg down to 150 x 100 pixels?

I got my picture down to the right size, but it is 200 kb. How do I reduce that to 15kb?

I use a free program called Picasa.

It's a free photo handling program which, among the many other things it does, reduces the size of a jpg for e-mailing. I took a large photo file, cut it back to less than 15KB with Picasa and emailed it to myself.

After saving the smaller file, I now have an appropriate jpg to submit as an avatar.

Now, if someone could tell me how to cut down the number of pixels, I would like to post my new avatar.

Okay. I downloaded Picasa. I cropped the picture and it automatically changed the pixels. But I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change the kb.

Try changing the Image Quality... File, Export Picture to Folder. Adjust the slider to a lower quality.

No idea if that will do what you need, but it seems to be the only thing that might do it in Picasa.

Go to Tools, Options, E-Mail, pull slider all the way to the left (160 pixels), OK.

Select the picture you want to post. Hit e-mail button at bottom of screen and send it to yourself. Save the jpeg and it ought to be less than the required 15KB.

I'm sure there's a better way but this is the best I can offer.

Don't you just love the "feeling lucky?" selection on Picasa. So far it's done an excellent job of improving any picture I've used it on. :)

I really appreciate your efforts but I moved the slider to 160 pixels and the picture still did not reduce to 15kb.
