You know what bites me hard

I'm no treehugger but the thing that irks me the most is monstrosity class (full-sized) SUVs and beyond running around, almost always driven solo or with minimal passengers and cargo. A smaller SUV, minivan or car would more than suffice...

I guess what's worse is when you see one of these being driven by a bunch of laughing teenagers. Obviously they can't afford such a vehicle and they're behind the wheel of a battering ram of death (due to their high curb weight) w/terrible accident avoidance capabilities while at the same time being in an age group known to have terrible accident statistics.

 

All those drawbacks of cigs and you leave out my biggest pet peeve about them---The incredible littering. It's a smoker requirement to ensure all roadways are lined with butts and especially critical to make sure every intersection gets a double dose.

 

Fleas. Fleas bite me hard. Our darned cat has managed to bring them into the house. This isn't going to be fun.

Plastic packaging of every consumer item imaginable. Plastic bags, plastic blister packs, plastic bottles, et. al. Most of it ends up in the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pacific_Garbage_Patch"]Great Pacific Garbage Patch[/ame].

those plastic packaging everyone uses to sell things just so you can "see" what you're buying. Not only are they a pain to open, they are just terrible lol

 

some years back, we had a 'packaging' bill in the legilature that would have required recycling of just about everything. after many political payoffs, they buried it, in a landfill.

 

Caffeine, Nicotine, Morphine, anything that ends with "ine" are addictive and wasteful.
Oh, the list should include masculine and feminine too
Oh, yeah, I forgot that the word "engine" ends in "ine" too.

I don't know if there's any reason that all those high-rise office towers have to have all their lights on full at night with nobody except maybe a night watchman inside. Looks really nice as a city night-scape, google earth can even "see" these highly concentrated lighted cosmpolitans from space. If that is not wasteful, what is?

 

Strange. All the office buildings have the lights on. In Florida, most of the condos don't have any lights on at night.

 

Environmental pet peeve? Hmm, the use of chemicals for growing crops - chemicals that pollute, kill, and cause illness of people, animals, water, and the planet - and, which has caused various dead zones in the ocean, at river mouths.

People who won't bother to recycle when the bin is RIGHT FRICKIN' THERE!!!

 

This is kind of off topic since its not an "enviromental pet peeve"
I have a pet peeve about pet peeve lists... its a mental pet peeve so I guess I'm off by just the "enviro" part

 

My biggest environmental pet peeves are:

Litter bugs.
Having to breath other people's toxic cigarette smoke.
Having to breath other people's toxic gross polluting vehicles (see cars which visibly smoke - nearly all diesels - old cars in poor mechanical shape - motorcycles without emissions equipment - modified vehicles without emissions equipment)

 

Perfume. It's a petrochemical. It's in EVERYTHIHG. Laundry sheets, lotion, sun screen, soap, deoderant, shampoo, room freshener, as well as the stench of cologne/perfume that men/women wear. The list is endless.

Oh, and it is toxic, as well... it's a carcinogen. I avoid "fragrance" in products I buy whenever possible.

 

I despise the perfume that some women wear that makes them smell like a feminine hygiene product. I can't stand the cloying smell of that stuff.

People who drive massive SUVs with US flag and/or eagle bumper stickers.

 

But they "support the troops" so its OK!
