I've had my Prius for a week, and loving it. However, there's one little quirk which is making me nuts.

Sometimes when I start it up, the electronics seem to have reset themselves. In other words, the power of the radio is off (even though I left it on when I shut the car off), and more annoyingly, the Bluetooth needs resynching.

The odd thing is, I don't have to re-enter the Bluetooth code into my phone. But I do need to go to the "register" screen, then connect through my phone, and they sync.

This happens about 30% of the time. The rest of the time, I'll start the car up, the audio will come on (as I left it), and the system will immediately sync with my phone.

I'll know immediately if it will behave or not. If the Energy screen is the first thing I see, then I know I'm going to have to sync the phone manually. If I get the "Agree" screen, I'll be cool.

Any suggestions/theories?

(PS - Also, what does the "Set" button under the steering wheel next to the "Key" button do? I searched like crazy here, but no answers.)

THANKS!!!

I have a one month old Prius and have not seen this issue at all. If I turn off the car with the radio on, it comes back on back on with the next power up. BT phone connects each time.

The set button is a reset for the tire pressure monitoring system.

Can't answer your problems, but i can answer the question about the set button. My dealer explained that it is to set the tire pressure sensors. Basically, if the sensors start reporting low tires and you check and they aren't low, or you get work done or something and it starts poping up telling you they're low and they aren't, this button will reset the limits on the sensors. Which means they won't be warning you at the current level, but they will if it drops much lower (i guess this could also be used if you increase your tire pressure like many people on the forum have done with the factory tires).

and obviously the key button turns the sks stuff off, which can be nice if you have to valet park or something, as the valet would then have to insert the key to get it to run and the car would have to be turned off before he could remove it (otherwise they might accidently leave it running, as has been reported by several people)

No, it doesn't. So it seems more like a soft boot rather than a hard boot.

Well, it's still happening. Here are all the things that happen when it does. I power the car up, and:

- The screen boots up with the MPG screen.
- The audio is off.
- The Telephone icon is not on the Info screen.
- I curse.

I'll power the car down then immediately restart. It's then when the Telephone Icon appears in the Info screen, but I have to resync the phone with the car's Bluetooth.

Lemon? Software glitch? I'm sure curious to see if anyone else is having this problem.

Thanks!

I'd take it in to your dealer. It's probably something simple to fix like a loose MFD connector. The problem with loose connectors is that they are hard to find!

Yeah, I'm gonna do that. Because I put numbers into my phone book, and when it restarted in that reset mode, all the phone book entries were lost. Grrr...

Okay, so I'm not doing anything wrong. Hellooooo, dealer!

Thanks.
