Navi system colors?

I have an 05 prius. I know that the navi system has a "clock" and it has a daytime mode and a nighttime mode where it darkens the screen and changes to darker colors. I was wondering if there was a way that the system could do it automatically. I was driving a van from toyota with the same navi system and it changed to nightime mode without me doing it. If there is a way could someone help me figure it out. I know that if u adjust the light dimmer switch on the left hand side but that is difficult to do while driving in traffic.

It should only switch to night mode when you turn your headlights on. There's a setting, I believe, that allows it to always stay in day-time mode as well.

well i alwayz drive with my lights on all the time to help visibility. ill look through my menus to see if i can find a all daytime mode . but i want an automatic one. anyone else messed with those settings

On the 2006 model, the MFD will switch to daylight mode if you roll the dash dimmer wheel all the way to the brightest setting. You can also select daylight mode from the display menu of the MFD. I don't know the details of your model year.
