Default Using bluetooth with the Nokia 6600 phone

I have a nokia 6600 phone. I have connected a nokia 6600 phone to my 2004 Prius. The phone works fine. Except the screen does not show the signal strength. I called nokia and T-mobile (my carrier) and they think that this problem is related to the car. I am looking to a way to correct the problem. I had an Ericsson phone and it did not have this problem but I exchanged phones for the Nokia because I like the phone features better.

Please advise

Mike

It may be something with the way that the Nokia implements the "Handsfree" Bluetooth profile. Watch the Nokia boards for a firmware upgrade for your phone, it may resolve the issue.

Be patient, though. The 6600 is brand new, IIRC. It may be a few months.

I noticed the same with my Nokia 6820.

Also it appears that using bluetooth hits the battery big time. The specs say the battery should last about 10 days and with bluetooth on I only get a couple of days. Do other bluetooth users find the same?

Default Battery usage with bluetooth

The battery does ware down faster with bluetooth so I use the car charger when I'm in the car. The phone fits nicely in the front cup holder.

Yes this is normal as Bluetooth is another transmitter/receiver combination. Mz SE P900 acts the same way.

Hi, we just got our 2005 Prius and are now looking for handsets. The last post on this thread is from July. Are you still content with the Nokia 6600? I like the feature set better than the Motorola V600, but the V600 users sounded more psyched about the ease of use with the Prius.

In addition, the Nokia has amazing capabilities, but it doesn't appear to support the MP3 file format (and neither does the Prius, but our #6 has a cassette feature allowing us to patch-in an MP3 player to the car). The Nokia 6600 appears to support only the Real Player format, which would require me to perform file conversions. Anyone have information on what audio software you can get its Symbian OS to run successfully?

Thanks a kilovolt!

Yes it still works without a hitch other than the signal strengh indication (which is really no problem IMHO)

Transfering the phone book is a pain in the butt.

1. make sure the numbers you want to transfer contain no spaces, otherwise you only get the digits to the first space.

2. you have to transfer 1 number at a time, which means a lot of work

3. only 1 number is available for each name, so Fred Mobile and Fred home numbers are 2 seperate entires.
