Default Steering wheel Controls

Is it normal for lights on the steering wheel controls to be very dim? I find myself having trouble seeing them at night. I don't know why Toyota didn't connect them to the dash lights so you could dim and brighten them. :cussing:

Anyways just wanted to see if it was just my car or if all the Prius's came like that. Oh yeah is there any simple solution? I'm sure there are complex solutions but I'd rather live with the very dim lights than have to tear up my steering wheel.

TIA,
Rene

There are lights on the steering wheel controls? I just remember which little bumps, divots, and pointy things control what. I'll have to look more closely next time I'm driving at night!

How cruel to poor little Rene. But then what does one expect from someone who uses a hybrid system for his brain.

You'll quickly learn by feel. The only time I get thrown off at this point is if I'm making a turn and the steering wheel is upside down...

Now Fred, Rene did say "I'm sure there are complex solutions but I'd rather live with the very dim lights than have to tear up my steering wheel."

I just told Rene to do what s/he would rather do...[/font:2f0780eea2]

Thanks for the replies. I pretty much figured I'd be stuck with dim lights. I just wanted to make sure that it was normal and nothing wrong with the lights. Actually I was hoping there was a switch I hadn't found.

Just yesterday I found out about the drawer underneath the center console. ops:

I know that eventually I'll memorize where the button are but it'll probably take a while. I'm so used to the steering wheel controls from my previous cars. Sure was nice having a mute button. :|

I agree about the mute button. If you press the MODE button on the wheel it will turn on the audio and cycle through different inputs with each successive press. If you press and hold the button, it will turn the audio off, but it takes a few seconds.[/font:497f357557]
