I'm a new Prius Forum user. I've had my 07 Prius for 3 months. During the daylight hours in Phoenix, I normally cannot read the information screen due to glare. Is there any type of shade available to reduce this glare?

I got one on line and they are very good. A friend just made one from heavey card stock that also works but is not permenant. It's just a 4 - 6 inch strip that covers the top like a hood and over the fron a few inches.
I think mine was about $30 bucks. The velcro strips come lose in a hot sun but hold pretty good.

I also bought one from the seller at ebay. After several months it started warping in the back and now it looks like it has a fin on the back. Contacted seller and he offered to replace if I pay postage. I asked him if the new one would do the same thing and he said that if the interior temperature went over 140 degrees, it would. Well here in Arizona, it almost always goes over that.

I live in Arizona and use a 12" square of dark blue scrapbooking paper (heavy paper lighter than cardstock) placed at a 45 degree angle under the dash mat over the MFD to shade the screen. The paper is positioned so that the front corner and about 1/3 of the square stick out above the screen and 2/3 of the square is under the dash mat. It did not take long for the paper to take the shape of the top of the MFD. The paper does not move except when I hit it with the sun shade. At least there is no velcro or glue to melt in the heat. :P The corner does not block my view of the MFD but if I was taller, I would probably cut the front corner off from the square.

I tried this at first to see if I wanted to buy a hood but it worked so well that I will continue to use the paper instead. I have been using the same sheet for over three months. About a month ago I turned the paper around 180 degrees as the color had become a bit faded and I expect this sheet to last at least another month before I decide to replace it. I will probably use a sheet with an Autumn pattern next.

Now the only time there is glare on the screen is when the sunlight comes in the side windows. That would be a problem with the hood as well.

The paper cost me about 8 cents when I bought the package of paper for use as origami paper. I plan to fold the old one into something after I replace it with a new sheet.
