Friends: 0 | Seems based on rumblings on the net that Toyota released the latest version 9.1 navigation update last week (September 1st, 2009). Very odd that there are no threads around here about this yet... Anyway, below seem to be the part numbers for the various generations; 86271-GEN04-09 86271-33049 2004-2005 86271-GEN05-09 86271-53024 2006-2009 86271-GEN06-09 86271-73011 2010-2011 Has anyone got their hands on the above yet? Are there any functionality changes aside from the obvious map updates? Thanks... |

Friends: 23 | There are 2 or 3 threads floating around but if I recall, they're mostly asking when it's coming out and what's new. This is the first time I've seen the part numbers. I have an 8.1 disc. |

Friends: 1 | I have an 05, do these discs update any of the interface at all, or do they simply add new roads, poi icons, etc? I have 4.1 version I believe and it's a bit outdated. |

Friends: 0 | New map discs update the software also, and will disable the "easter egg" sequence to allow data entry while driving.A while back there were posts about making a hybrid disc using old software and new maps, so the old trick still worked, but I can' tfind it now. There is also a newer "lockpick" approach to getting around the on-the-move problem. |

Friends: 17 | ALL - got a question for you all. i own a 2008...........I was showing property in Fontana today, in a tract with homes built in 2006. The navigation system did NOT recognize the street and number of the home, i tried all different ways to spell and find the home. Finally had to call someone to MAPQUEST it and tell me the directions. Why is this happening to my navi system? Is this a navi defect or simply an upgrade issue? seems like an 08 car..........built in 07....should know 06 properties and tracts. any help would be appreciated |

Friends: 3 | From my experience with all the new roads and development around here, and having had a Toyota NAV system for the last 3 + years, it can take up to 3 years for a Toyota NAV update to reflect a change. |

Friends: 1 | Seems like a waste of money then. I'm still rocking 2005 maps version 4.1. I agree about the ota downloads, I constantly double check complicated directions with google maps on my BlackBerry cuz I don't trust them. |

Friends: 0 | Yeah, I think that's the worst part of the Toyota Nav systems. The updates are poor, slow to be fully update with streets, etc. and TOO EXPENSIVE! For $250, you can get a new portable nav every few years. |
