I just took apart my broken camera and found that it did have moisture in it. I tried to remove the moisture by heating it up a little but melted the lens. I still have a good CCD sensor so if I can just find a lens I could make a working camera. I hope my modifications to my new camera can prevent the moisture from entering. Only time will tell I guess.

Hi,

I have some questions regarding your project, I didn't read all the forum and I'm not sure by some informations:
-does this video back and rear view cameras work while the car is on the move? For example, can you see on the back of the car using MFD if you drive with 80 miles/hour?
-what kind of video input is used there? Does it work for example to connect in a place of the front camera a portable DVD with normal video out, or a Sony DSC portable camera? It was just an example. What kind of video needs to be used (PAL/NTSC, video composite and so on..)
-does it work with Prius 2007-2009, or only with the model 2004-2005, which have analog video input?
-I have an original Prius rear view camera, bought from eBay with 130USD from a salvage.. can I use that?

Please clarify for me all those technical aspects, I want to have a rear back-up camera and to have the possibility to watch videos on my MFD. How can I do that (an non-expensive solution)?

Yes they do.

Its standard NTSC composit video. You can watch a DVD with it but it will have the "check surroundings for safety" on the bottom of the screen. Coastal has their lock pick device that taps into an actual composit input made for DVD player but their device is expensive.

Yes as long as you have a rear camera all ready. I dont know if you can add one if you dont. I'm just not sure.

Maybe. You will have to look at the tech manuals to see if it can be hooked up to your car.

Hello again,

I just want to ask you, did you mounted the front-rear view system in your Prius model 2003-2005, or it's the facelift 2005-2009? I know what there is a diffrecence between those 2 models: the first 2003-2005 model has analog input, and the other one has digital input and you should use only digital signals on the video input pin for rear view camera.

I'm not sure about this, someone can confirm me how it is?

Also, in US do you have a direct cable which connects the rear view camera with the MFD? On attached documents (from US market) it seems that there is a cable noted with T12. Does anyone knows the PN of that cable?
