Friends: 0 | I just installed the Coastal-Tech EV-Mod today. The prep work was reading many posts and convincing myself I was ready and would not *&^%$-up my car. The directions from Coastal-Tech provide step by step pictures and instructions, which were accurate and easier to understand and follow. It took longer for me to re-read the directions and gather the tools than it did to actually install the device. (about 15 minutes) I did see the video months ago online, but the pictures and instructions were all I really needed. I considered filming it, but never got out of the car after gathering the tools. I also installed the Coastal-Tech NAV lock-pick (under driver’s seat) which was a no -brainer, I am hoping the full lock-pick 3+, "dissect the centre console" instructions are as straight forward and successful. Any helpful hints or cautions would be appreciated.

Friends: 0 | I could not locate the Thunder EV Mod video, but was able to locate this step by step video with narrated instructions that is very close to what I found when I installed. EV Mode Installation,EVMODE, Prius Electric Only, EV Mod Switch: JuicedHybrid.com It really is that easy. |

Friends: 0 | The origional video has been unavailable for a few months. However if you have the printed instructions from Coastal, it isvery easy and just as the instructions indicate. I also installed the Coastal Lock-Pick3 and again the instructions are very good. Go for it, you will be surprised how easy it is. |

Friends: 0 | Video is no longer available!? I have a 2008 Prius and looking for help with the installation of EV mode. I have considered the "add a wire or two" method but somehow I do not feel thew writeup has all the info. I have disassembled the right front dash, found the connector and the 'missing pin' location, but could not separate the steering column cover without risking braking it - at least this is how it felt. So now I am looking at the coastal EV mod. Any advice? Is this mod really worth the effort or we want it because we don't have it? Last edited by plug-it-in; 04-14-2009 at 08:17 PM. |

Friends: 0 | I found the instructions for the coastaltech package on-line. Comparing it to the 'add a wire (or two) with a SPST switch' I am now certain that the pin location where the control wire goes is correct (pin 27 on the lowest grey plug.). The Coastal solution is neat - it hides the modification well. Unless the service guys need to open up the dash, Toyota would never see the mod - I am thinking of the warranty here! It is also easy to install. Still the question remains - it is worth the effort? |
