I searched on this issue and didn't see this mentioned anywhere. I just hooked up my SG and used it for the first time while driving this morning. I noticed that while gliding with the ICE off (RPM=0), the MPG reading was in the 3500 - 4000 range and GPH showed 0.01. When I come to a stop, both readings do in fact go to 0. Also, curiously, while in warp stealth at say 45-50 MPH and RPM = 960 (which makes sense), the MPG reading is 9999 as expected and GPH is 0.00. Is there really a trickle of gas flow during an ICE-off glide or is this a minor SG glitch? Have other people experienced this? I have not calibrated the gas tank after a fillup yet, but I wouldn't think that would matter for the instantaneous MPG reading. MPG readings while the ICE was on were pretty close to what the MFD shows.

You again?
Sounds like you and I both got the same (perhaps) bad batch of SG units. Mine does the exact same thing as yours. I reported this to Ron DeLong at Linear-Logic about 3-4 weeks ago. It's an error in how our particular SGII units are reading & displaying MPG. I'll be returning mine for a new one. I suggest you do the same.

Hmm, I just got mine this week. It was ordered maybe 2 weeks ago. Do you know when the new units that would correct for this error are supposed to be available?

Should be available now. When I spoke to Ron several weeks ago, he indicated that none of the new units shipping back then had this issue... at least to his knowledge.

Dang, looks like mine also has this issue.

Whats the procedure to get it replaced with a unit that doesn't have this bug?

Thread back from the dead....

I got the 0.01 GPH glide bug in mine too, and it's relatively new. Got it in May of 08.

Has anyone confirmed that there is a fix for this... ie, did anyone send theirs back and get a good one in return?

Dan,
According to Ron DeLong at Linear-Logic, it's not a bug in the SGII but rather how our particular Prius vehicles are communicating/reporting data to the SGII. In other words, if we took our SGII and hooked it up to another Prius (like a 05 or 06 model year), then our SGII would correctly show 9999 mpg when gliding.
However, I'm thinking there's got to be something that Linear-Logic could do (like another software/firmware update) to address is 0.01 GPH glide anomaly.

My 2008 Prius responds the same way, but I've always considered it a "feature" rather than a bug. The mpg it displays during a glide is, roughly, the speed (in mph) times 100. (Example: if it shows 2362 mpg, the speedometer is probably showing 23 mph.)

Peace,

Alright I've got to call BS on that one. I have two ScanGauge. One (before the XGauge FW) shows glides at 0.0 GPH, the other (with the XGauge FW) shows glides at 0.01 GPH. Hard to argue it's the cars fault if SG reported correctly a few FW rev's ago.

The actual reading on GPH is below 0.01 it just rounds. The real floating point figure is somewhere between 0.0050 and 0.0066 GPH.

Folks,

I've got a ScanGuage, and use it every day. I will admit that I show MPG, not
GPH.

That said, I don't understand how this incredibly small error has any
meaningful, real-world consequence. 1/100th of a gallon of fuel for every
hour spent gliding. In my mostly urban driving situation, that would
represent some 250 or 300 miles driven. Being a less than perfect hyper-
miler, I know that in that distance I over/under estimate times and
distances, fail to hit glides at the exact top of an incline, accelerate to keep
up with traffic vice in "sweet spot" RPM band, and otherwise don't get
absolute max FE/MPG. Oops, there goes at least 1/100th of a gallon for
every 10 miles driven.

Perhaps I'm too cavalier, insensitive, ignorant, laid-back, whatever to
understand what's going on here.

I am willing to learn. So, can someone tell me why I should be concerned
about this condition of less than absolute numerical correctness out in the
second decimal place, or beyond.
