Default Homelink rearview mirror install question

I have a package II that has pretty much no options, I would like a auto dim rear view mirror with the home link sending unit. I have found many on ebay new and used. Question is, is there any special wire I need to tap into or is one of the wires for the map light good enough? I have not taken the headliner out yet, or even tried to look, was wondering if anyone has done this yet?

try a search - PriusChat Forums - Search Results

I think if I had to do it again, I'd try something like this in the visor - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Beige-Homelink-Visor-Module-Non-Rolling-Code_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem3ef92c95a3QQitemZ2 70468421027QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAcc essories

Yeah, I did a search, got this:
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

Thus why I asked the question. How is that going to dim the rear headlights of people behind me?

Hey Gasman, Shoot me a PM with your email and I will send you the PDF file for the factory add on EC homelink mirror installation. Part number PT374-47100. If yourmirror has a different part number, the install will be basically the same, since they will all use a simple three wire system. One constant power, one key power and one ground.

I do not have a mirror just yet, was wondering about the complexity of the install first. But I will send you a email in just a bit.

Gastiman:

Homelink needs constant 12V tap point.
Autodimming needs switched 12V tap point. (meaning, hot only when key at ACC position)
Both usually can be found inside the kick panel near your left ankle area of the driver.
Ground? Just tap to the body frame.
If you buy a kit specifically for Prius, it should come with clear instruction.
With side curtain airbag (if yours has it), you may find removing the A-pillar trim a bit tricky...
