Friends: 0 | I have never installed speakers so this question may fall under the category of "speaker install for dummies". Since rivets need to be drilled out of the old speakers there won't be any screws for me to use for installing the new speakers and adapters which I purchased (the instructions with the speakers says to reuse the old screws). What would be the best (easiest ?) way to do this ? Speed clips and screws ? Rivnuts which were mentioned in another post ? Other options ? Any ideas would be appreciated. |

You will need a speaker spacer - and it seems a 3" depth on the front is the max for the speaker - haven't figured the exact depth of the 6x9 spacer (otherwise I'd already own one). It seems you want the biggest spacer possible because there is very little space between window and speaker after replacement. Spacers come in various thicknesses - with a wide variety of mounting holes - perfect for this type of thing... I would buy soundproofing material to put in there while you're at it. These guys have pretty cheap, and variable thickness stuff Soundproofing & Noise Control Materiels Prices The front tweeters have a detailed post lower in audio {IMHO} a 1" tweeter is insufficient for voice - the only other choice seems to be a 3.5" combination, which means you have to cut the plastic a bit... Good luck! | |
