Default Oil Change 2010 Prius - do it yourself

Here is a helpful mechanism for those do-it-your-selfer's out there.

Enjoy! Bill

How do you reset the oil change indicator scale ?

First - you need to hit the trip indicator button until you have "trip A" indicated in the display (I use this at re-fueling times)

Next - you will need to push the park button then the power off button - yes you will need to fully turn off the car.

Next - locate the MPH/Kilometers button on the dashboard. Press and hold down and then restart the car by pushing the power on button (hold both buttons down at the same time - when the scale is re-set, let go of both buttons)

Verify by looking at the scale indicator

I believe this is correct - good luck.

Just curious--how many miles were on it when you changed the oil/filter? The filter looks like it caught a fair amount of black stuff.

I change at 990 miles - wanted to run Mobile 1 after a reasonable break in

I always have an oil/filter service done on my cars at ~2,000 miles to get rid of the break-in gunk. Your old oil filter confirms why it's important.

What size oil filter wrench did you use? There are quite a few end-cap wrenches (sockets, actually). I have a small collection from working on past & present vehicles.

I bought the proper size 64mm from these guys.........

Assenmacher Specialty Tools TOY640 - Toyota 64mm Oil Filter Wrench

I think a 65mm that you can find in most auto stores, as well as your local Toyota dealer, would work, but this is the right tool....
The oil change is a straight-forward deal, easy even, & this 'How to' is a good guide........

Even tho the oil looked real good, I concur with your thinking and did mine @998miles. Replaced w/ M1 0w/20....
The filter looked OK....
I sent a sample to BlackstoneLabs to check out the OE oil...we'll see.

Does anyone know how to reset the Oil Maintenance Screen?? I change my oil last week before the 5000 mile mark. I just hit 5000 miles today and the Oil Screen came on.
