Sounds like a better tire than the initial round of 15" tires, though treadwear of 300 isn't all that great.

I'm surprised they used a 300 tread wear tire. Low for this application.

Bridgestone Japan published a press release telling following all-season tires are for the US market.

I've seen ONE 2010 with the Ecopias. It was a IV. The rest have had the Yokohama Avids -- except for the V. I've only seen mine, but ggood reports the same tire on his (the Toyo Proxes A20). I'd like to find out the cost of those Bridgestone Turanzas.

Some of the Tire Rack reviews on the S33s state that the tires get rather noisy after they start to wear, but this was for other sizes on other vehicles. Let's hope Prius fares a bit better.

Remember that I'm the only one who has reported seeing the Ecopias! I saw them on the dealer's demo Prius IV (no solar). This is in the Chicago region.

I'd like to hear if there are any more Ecopia sightings.

Toyo will outfit third-generation Toyota Prius


The Toyo Proxes R30A will be an original equipment fitment on the third-generation Toyota Prius in Japan. The new Prius was launched May 18.

The eco-friendly tire was developed for the Prius, according to Kenji Nakakura, CEO and president of Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. It features low rolling resistance and quiet ride characteristics.

Toyo is suppling Toyota Motor Corp. with its Proxes R30A in size 215/45WR17.

This is not quite the same tire as we've seen in the U.S. Our Prius V with Toyo tires has the Proxes A20. I haven't seen another production model Prius V, and the only other one in private hands that reported tire type has the same Toyo Proxes A20.

I'd like to think ours has eco-friendly characteristics, but I don't know. It doesn't have a center-line for great rolling, so we'll see how it does in highway mileage!

Good catch! It really was a IV. Very poor edit job (I've changed the prior post by now, though!).
