Default T-SB-0347-09 Cargo Net Trim Panel Gap

Here's the TSB. Plastic plugs are used to fill the original holes.

Can I, should I, have my dealership do this repair, even though I don't currently have a cargo net?
Is it something that would need to be addressed before the warranty expires?

Well, reading the TSB answered the second question. It has to be done while unde warranty.

If you don't have the cargo net, how could the panel have been damaged and why would you need holes patched? Just wondering since I don't have a cargo net either and don't want one, and so I am not exactly sure what the problem is if we haven't installed a cargo net.

My point was that if I choose to add a cargo net 3 days after my warranty expires..., or trade the car in and the next owner is a cargo net nut, I thought it would be wise on my part to plan ahead. While certainly not every Prius owner uses a cargo net, a good percent do and of that percent, from what I read here, it seems to me that almost all of them are having this panel seperation issue.

with the new kit, there won't be any repair needed. they'll simply install the net correctly, without any holes.

OK, my mis-understanding. I thought one just purchased the cargo net, like the floor mats, and then stretched it between the pre-installed factory anchor points, pulling the panels askew. I believe my mistake is in that those anchor points are NOT pre-installed. Is that correct?

Yes. Two anchor points need to be installed when the cargo net is added.

I purchased my Prius in late September (unsure of manufacture date). It came with the cargo net installed with the new fix. No holes to plug. It works great and no problems with it whatsoever.

Won't the plastic around the hook eventually get scratched and worn? I think that's why the original flawed placement had it away from the plastic? Mine came with a cargo net, but only for the floor. Would like to get the upright one but maybe will wait.

Thanks! When I ordered my Prius, I ordered the cargo net. When I took delivery, they told me to not use the cargo net until they found a fix, because the net could pull out the side panels. But they never contacted me to let me know about the fix. So I'm glad I found it here!

I called my dealer, they know nothing about the fix. They checked with the shop, and the shop knew nothing about the fix. So I gave them the TSB number, which they Googled, and they found this Forum!

I'm surprised they didn't have it from Toyota. I printed out the TSB and will give it to them. My guess is that the fix was applied to new cars being built, so not too many were built with the hooks in the wrong place.

Thanks for this Forum!
