Happy New Year. Got my 2007 Pkg 5 a few days ago, and am slowly being driven insane by the reverse beeps. I have tried the method found at Prius Chat with the ODO button, hold 10 seconds, power off, power on, etc., but no success. Is there some difference for the 2007's? Has anyone been successful in muting the reverse beeps in a 2007?

Thanks Green Acres

Hi. Yes, the fix works correctly in the 2007 model. Perhaps you are not following the directions exactly -- I found them a bit confusing the first time. Here are the directions that I am using:

Disabling Reverse Beep
• Power on the car, Cycle ODO/TRIP, stopping on ODO, Power off the car. (the ODO button next to the KM/MPH button)
• Power on, within 6 seconds, hold ODO for at least 10 seconds.
• While still holding ODO shift into Reverse and back into Park. (Yes, Reverse then press the Park button)
• b-on shows on speedometer display, press ODO to cycle to "b-off". (where the ODO display _was_, now you should have "b-on" or "b-off". Set it to b-off with the ODO button and then power the car off. Now when you turn on the car and put it in reverse, the annoying beep inside the car will not happen.

Be sure you're sitting on the driver's side.

It took me two tries before I got it off.

The first step may be somewhat confusing too, even if your car is already on ODO when you power it on in step 1, you still have to cycle through the Trip A, Trip B and then stop on ODO.

I have done this successfully on first try in my 2007.

It took me two tries on my 2007 as well, but so glad it's gone. Was driving me batty. Now I wonder if when I take the car in later this year for the first oil change (six months coming up in March) if it will get reset by the dealer?

Thanks Scoot for the "backup" beep fix. It worked fine on my new 07 today altho it took a couple of tries to get the hang of it.

You're welcome. The instructions are concise because I got it wrong the first few times myself, although the instructions I was reading were correct. I just needed more detail.

I'm going to try this tomorrow! It works on all models, then? I hope it won't be as frustrating as the garage door opener that took me three days to finally get right. (Turns out that in Canada cycling off and on very two seconds the transmitter means to actually press and hold the button for two seconds, then to rapidly press again--kind of contrary to how I would've used it to open the door, but oh well...)
