According to Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Prius specifications web page, they get 6.00JJx15 alloy wheels and 195/60 R15 88V tires (excuse me, tyres).

ohh? now THAT I didn't know... and it's been nearly 4 years!

I just (briefly) saw a Canadian '08 Special Edition base Prius on the lot today. It has the extended spoiler and ventilated front disc brakes to go along with the 16" wheels. I can't confirm the suspension, but you got the rest of it right Tideland.

Cheers,

Geoff

sweet ok. I'm assuming we still get rear drums?

Yup. Still drums in back. It's interesting, the '08 Prius brochure I was given two weeks ago states drums all around. The TC website now reflects the front discs.

That's a major oversight. I mean, we haven't had 4-wheel drums in how many decades??

Honestly, they keep making mistakes and adding features for no reason. Who's doing the website??

When I was looking in 2005, they listed a locking glovebox and a card-type keyless entry fob (like the new LS).

Drums all round were a option in street class drag car and could be factory fitted as late as mid 70”s.
Discs have some drag as the pads are in light rubbing contact with the disc, drums can be adjusted to be free running.
If max miles is the object logic should state that all Prius should have drum brakes all round. The fact that the US build has rear drums saves a bit of gas.

Hey Tideland!! Question??

I have the 2006 Prius with Package #4 which I believe is the same as the HI. Can I have Toyota add the NAV SYSTEM now?? Or do I have to go with a third party??

The cost and time associated with putting a factory navigation unit in a non-navigation vehicle wouldn't be worth it. You'd probably be looking at way over $1000 to do it. Get a nice PND (I'd recommend a Garmin) and run with it... More rich features, real-time traffic capable, and all sorts of other goodies for way less.

I second what mkiefer said. It's a lot more cost effective to buy a PND.

If you want an integrated one, Garmin makes the "black box" which uses your screen but you control it via a remote control, rather than by touch. It's also a bit more expensive than a good PND.

What about the rear fog light?
Any how to's about modifying a US spec car to have one?
I installed one on my VW Euro van, required a new light switch and a new rear lens to house the bulb. I really like the effect it gives me, not to mention I really pays off when the weather is lousy.

No rear fogs. You can get an aftermarket one from PIAA. It's a 12-bulb LED that retails for about $90.
