Default Disabling Safety Warning at start-up

An 07 Prius requires the driver to press “I Agree” every time the car is started. The screen will have this lengthy message all the time, every day until you press the button.

My 08 had that message only once. I pressed “I Agree” and it has never come up again.

Is there a way I can deactivate this message for those I know with an 07 Prius?

Thanks for your help.

Hmm, I've never seen it in my '07. Does it have Navigation?

Yes, this is the message you get on the navigation screen.

You can:

a) Buy a Version 7.1 DVD to replace your Version 6.1 DVD. It will replace the "I agree" screen with a different screen that will dismiss itself after about 3 sec. That is what I did. I bought a used DVD taken out of a 2008 Prius.

b) Coastal Tech sells a device called Lockpick which is supposed to automatically "press" the "I Agree" button for you. It does this in software, I believe. I don't have direct experience with this device. I think it goes for about $100. Coastal Tech has kind of a spotty record for customer service, so I was hesitant about buying from them.

c) If you already have a 7.1 DVD, you may be able to burn a copy for your 07 Prius. This, of course would violate copyright, but if you search, you will find others that have done it.

Thanks dog. I have a 08 Prius and will check if I have the nav cd. This person was told by the dealer that they could do it at the service end for a fee.

i was under the impression that a 2007 prius will run the 7.1 nav dvd without any kind of modication to the disc layout, and it was older prius cars that needed the dvd changed.

theres nothing there to justify a service fee, you just buy the $300 disc and pop it in the drive, i think

My recollection is that the 7.1 DVD from an 08 Prius will work for the 06 & 07 Prius, but not for the earlier Nav systems. I think some people have figured out how to make a "hybrid" DVD for earlier systems.

I bought a used DVD from C. Rickey Hirose; see here.

I believe the list price for a new DVD is somewhere around $250. Edit: Rickey says $300 in the other thread.

Yes, you eject the old DVD from the slot by removing the NAV ECU cover (under the drivers seat, push seat all the way forward to see the cover). Then slide the eject button over to the left to eject the DVD. Put the new DVD in the slot and return the button and cover to previous position.

Sounds, to me, like you just need to change to a different default start up screen. If your default is the NAV/MAP then yes, the "I Agree" will come up every time. If you have the Energy or Consumption your default you shouldn't see the "I Agree" unless you go to Map/NAV.

Hey Guys,

I will try the default option first, sounds potentially easier. Thanks Troll

Dog, I am curious about that disc and plan to find it regardless.

Thanks all.
