Friends: 0 | My boss has an '01 Prius and he says it has (or rather should have) NAV. According to him, NAV was an available option, but they didn't get the kinks worked out by the time the car was released. It was shipped with NAV disabled, but you could take the car back to get the NAV enabled/installed or whatever. My boss never bothered going back to get it enabled/installed; he's kind of odd that way... |

Friends: 0 | My clasic '02 has NAV. I paid about 4k to have it as an option. It has a version 1 DVD in it. Know anyone that has a newer version that I can get a copy of? |

Friends: 0 | I'd really doubt Toyota would go to the expense of installing the hardware for the NAV, just to have it disabled. They don't do it on the G2, though the alarm is disabled but otherwise equipped. |

Friends: 0 | DanMan, the NAV was installed as an option in the Classic Prius just like the in the HSD Prius. However, the option did not work early on (for example if you pre-ordered the Classic Prius). It was disabled on Classic Prius which had the NAV option, until later when they got the kinks worked out. Not all Classic Prius had the NAV hardware. I think you misinterpreted what I wrote. |

Friends: 0 | On my classic '02, the DVD nav system is under the front passenger seat. I assume the defeat switch instructions will be mostly the same except for that? Aaron |

Friends: 0 | On '03, speed input is pin 5 on connector N2, also a purple wire. Probably would have the same side effects as on the '04/'05. |

Friends: 37 | Just in case you hadn't already found it, there is a software user input way of getting around the NAV speed sensor defeat that was found: Navigation Motion Override 1)Push MENU Button on bezel 2)Tap the VOLUME soft button 3)Tap top left of screen (where the speaker icon is), then the bottom left, then top left again and finally the bottom left again. **Perform these taps in rapid sequence. Do not be tentative or it might not work. 4)The Service Menu should appear. 5)Press and hold the OVERRIDE soft button until it beeps and is highlighted. Full NAV function should now be available until you shut down the car. This can be engaged while in motion but must be repeated each time the car is restarted. Be cautious experimenting within the Service Menu as you could cause yourself some problems with your Prius is you push the wrong combination of buttons.
