Date of order: Jan 3, 2004

Dealer: Magic Toyota, Edmonds, WA

Time: 3-4 months (probably more like 6 months)

Color: Seaside Pearl, Salsa Red Pearl, Tideland Pearl, and Driftwood Pearl. (Pearl seems to be the operative theme here)  in that order of preference.

Options:  Option #1, Option #7, and Option #9, in that order. Other option packages not available in the Pacific NW.

I'm also working through a car finder service and told them I would accept virtually any Prius except Black with any available option package.
I'm still hoping the dealer will get me one with either  option  #1 or  #7 so I won't have to spend the extra 2,500 for a moving map I can talk to.
The car finder lady told me that a dealer in Portland, OR has 80 orders in his roster and he gets only a few cars a month.  That would make his delivery time more like several years.
Is it possible that  Toyota would extend these orders into the 2005 model year if they run out of production cars before the 2004 orders are filled?  (Dianne?)

I signed the order and paid $300 on Jan. 20, 2006
at Riverhead, NY Toyota
Saleswoman says they only get one Prius a month from Toyota

I ordered Light Blue
Package 3
I don't know my number in the wait list.
Any ideas how I can speed it up?

call around. go out of state. I decided 2 weeks ago to buy one and even though every dealer around town initially said they had 6 week waiting lists, somehow when I said I was ready to buy TODAY cars "materialized" at several dealerships. The salesman all said some "orders had fallen through".

Last week on this chat board, someone gave a link to a dealership in Tulsa (I think) that had 6 for sale at $500 under MSRP. I just called my salesman in Maryland and he told me that there are 3 at his dealership today for sale; red, tan and white all with package 7. he told me that package 3 cars are extremely rare because Toyota likes to load them up so if you go with that selection you may wait a long time

if you would like more info let me know

Hmmm.

As someone currently ON a waiting list, I'm wondering how many times this "orders had fallen through" really translates to "We'll just tell Joe Schmoe that there was a factory or shipping glitch & his car will be a month or more late."

I have nothing against shopping tactics, tweet, I'm expressing a concern about the methods of dealers.

Thank you Marty. After I posted in June, I did put orders and $500 down at two Toyota dealers, much larger shops. They both promised me a car within a short time. Have not seen it yet. edunlap
