Just got a 2007 Prius w/Package #2 in Classic Silver Metallic. Seems like a great car so far (only 600 miles so far). Anyone out there with a generation 2 (2004-2007) with a lot of miles on it. How has the reliability been? What is the highest mileage that you know of on a generation 2?

As of yesterday, I'm at 100k. Never had a vehicle go this far with this little maintenance, and no reliability issues. Woohoo!

Can you give some details of the service required (outside of the scheduled maintenance)? Is it a 2004 Prius?

I was just reading a thread last night at BITOG where one of the posters had data based on 200 Prii in a fleet service along with other vehicles for comparison. The Prius had the best reliability by far compared to the other vehicles in their fleet. Some were over 150k and a few were over 200k.

I just spent an hour trying to find the thread again, but can't find it. Their search function sucks out loud.

Turned 35,000 just over a year. No problems, no dealer visits, just gas and go! Holding steady at 50 mpgs.

2005 Prius Package #4, 116k miles, no major maintenance.

Oil = change every 15k, filter every 7.5k, full synthetic 5w-20 Castrol
Brakes = at 96k, dealer inspection declared more than 60% life remaining...he said should get 220k-250k before change
Service required] 100k = coolant drain (flush not applicable) both inverter and ICE was $360, change iridium spark plugs was $140
Cabin Air Filter = change every 40k miles
Engine Air Filter = change every 50k miles

The only thing I don't like is the painted plastic interior...I use my car for my business and it gets scuffed up way too easy.

This car will be the best car I have ever owned just rating it for it's standard maintenance.
