Default still the Red triangle!

Hello There!

I messed up my car recently!.... Ran out of gas and Dealer told me warranty got voided...

long story short, I replaced the HYbrid Battery (got a used one off Ebay) and the 12 V battery also, since It had to be jumped before starting the car.

Now, after replacing the 12v battery, the Red triangle is still showing up!

I got a scangauge II and it is not showing any codes!!!

Before installing the battery I checked and all terminals were clean. THe 12V I got straight from the dealer.

anyways, there seems to be something draining the 12v battery, since as soon as I turned the car off, the voltage kept going down!!!

anyways, I disconnected the negative terminal, so I dont mess up the new battery....

The car moves... so it probably can be driven to the dealer, but I dont want to risk it... plus this people are the ones that didnt want to cover the warranty, so I hate them. ID rather pay some other dealer... call me petty... heh

what else can this be?

I connected the scan gauge to my mother in laws car and It got a code of it, so I figure it works... It also sees the voltage, rpm and all the info from the car....

Have you tried starting three times to clear the codes?

well here goes...

I start, and it doesnt give me the ready message, but I get the red triangle and problem on the touchscreen... I can only turn it off by pressing the button twice, no brakes...

I try the second time and it gives me the ready, and the engine comes on, but still error message...

third time it goes back to no ready message...

seems to be once it doesnt start, second time it does...

How did you determine the HV Battery needed replacement?

Corrosion? Are you the original owner of the car and how many miles on car? To what SOC did you deplete the battery to when you ran out of gas?

yeah, Im the original owner...

THe battery died completely I figure... the car started back when I put gas back on the tank... It was a while ago, I dont remember the details, but the thing ran out...

the car has 80K miles on it...

other than now, the only other extended period of time the car wasnt run was when it got moved from Puerto Rico to Miami... it took them three- four weeks... no issues back then...

So, in other words, you ran out of gas and the car recovered from that event, and ran fine, initially. Later your battery problem developed and the out-of-gas event is being blamed for the battery damage.
I'm just trying to fully understand what happened.
Did powering the car on-off 3 times help?

yep... that is basically it...

Ran out of gas six months ago,,, went to the gas station, put gas in it, car restarted and ran fine for a couple of months....

No issues, one day on the highway the Red triangle comes on. Car still runs...

Car shuts down halfway home. I leave it in a parking lot until the next day. I take it too the dealer, they say battery discharge due to car running out of gas voids the warranty. They quote 5k to repair, which I dont have.

I leave the car in the driveway till I can get the battery on ebay. (and the money... hah!) Anyways, along the way the 12v dies, and I cant restart the car anymore...

I get the battery like a month after, and I install it. old battery is corroded and stuff... ebay one is clean!

I jumped the car when I installed the ebay HV and the car started up, with no triangle or anything. when I turn off the car, the 12v starts to discharge (you can see the voltage going down on the meter!)

when I try to restart, the triangle reappears... I figure its the 12v dying.

12v is replaced with a brand new one...

reds triangle still there, car gives the "car will not charge while in neutral" but its in drive.

I try to start it three times... first time I dont get the ready message, second time I get it, third time I dont get it...

when I dont get the ready message, I have to press the button twice, the car wont go off just by pressing it once...

shit, I cant recall any more details...
