My Car: Package: Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | OK, total newbie question. How do I lift up the rear bench seat pad so that I can take a look at the traction battery? I understand that Toyota isn't eager to have consumers poke around in the high voltage section, so they didn't put a convenient hinge/handle system on it, or include any info in the owner's manual about this. But I want to check the voltage levels (without forking out $200 or so for a scantool,) I know how to handle high voltages and battery packs, and have the equipment to measure voltages to about 2000 V. Any input from the PHEV crowd on this? Regards, aeronaut

1. Open hatch 2. Remove false floor (carpeted) 3. Remove cargo bin (black) (just lift it out) 4. Look toward the front of the car, under the remaining carpeted area & see a metal box. That's the battery. - Left side is where the hookups are. There's a disconnect there too incase you want to mess around without getting a nice zap. | |

For about $140 you can get a ScanGauge II which will let you see many parameters, like ICE RPM, coolant temperatures, amperages, etc., but won't let you modify the Prius operation much. You need the Toyota tool to program the SKS/key fob system. |
