My Car: 2007 Prius Package: #4 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | Hi Gang, As many have mentioned, the Prius does not come with an automatic door lock function. At least, I could not get it on my 2007 model. I purchased the Coastal modification kit and it is programmed to lock the doors when the car reaches 15 mph. However, what I really want is a system that works like my Oldsmobile does. That is, lock all the doors automatically when I put the car in drive, and unlock all the doors when I put the car in park. This is a mode I feel safest with. I'm pretty sure I could get this to work in combination with the kit I already have from Coastal, by adding some diodes and resistors. The park and drive switches are both momentary so the basic function is already what I need. Has anyone done this or do you have any other similar ideas for this concept? Thanks in advance Steve |

I'm just not sure if auto-locking is that helpful to you, and especially not if you get in a disabling accident... ~ dan ~ |

My Car: 2005 Prius Package: #6 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | There are instructions on Darell's site at http://www.evnut.com/prius_auto_lock.htm for installing a circuit that will lock the doors automatically at start up. For the Classic Prius, Coastal sold a circuit that locked the doors when the driver's seatbelt was connected and unlocked them when the seatbelt was disconnected. |

My Car: 2007 Prius Package: #4 Nominated 0 Times in 0 Posts TOTM Awards: 0 Friends: 0 | I bought the Coastal modification that locks the doors automatically. It does that part of the task fine. The problem is that when I get out of the car and then go to get something out of the rear door, then I need to go back and unlock all the doors again. It isn't a huge problem, but a minor annoyance that happens ever day. I was just wondering if someone had already done this unlicking circuit already. ad78 -- I'll call my dealer. I didn't think of that. I wonder if they have an add-on or if they have a programming capability. Did they tell you? Thanks much Steve |
