Friends: 1 | [quote=krousdb;936156]When I drive 55, I usually get about 65 MPG. So 78 MPG would be a 20% improvement for me.quote] Answers: Do you have the 2kwh or 4kwh kit? 2KW (soon to be 4KW) Did you run out at 20 miles or did you have some juice left? I had juice left. In addition to the mileage numbers, people want to know how long it lasts. Also, when fuly charged, what is your cell voltage? Okay, this depends on how you use it. EV only lasts about 30 min, whereas, highway lasts about 45 min to an hour. Cell voltage about 3.35 when fully charged. What was the temperature outside? 86 Did you have a head wind, tail wind or cross wind? Not windy What was the wind speed? Don't know but not windy. Did you have A/C on? At what temp setting? yes, 68 low both times. I believe your 2004 model is actually more FE than mine. I have been very pleased with the Enginer PHEV kit so far. If you already get 65mpg going 55, then the results with your car should be even better than mine. JOANNA |

You really need to do some baseline testing without the kit before your PHEV data will be useful. If you only get 50 MPG at 55 MPH, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with your car. Your test results will then be understated. Do us all a favor. Do your 55 MPH test over again WITHOUT the PHEV kit turned on. Report those results so we can better understand your results with the PHEV kit.

Friends: 1 | Okay, if you want a baseline 55mph without the PHEV kit.. no problem. However, my EPA data mileage sheet was 48 city/51 hwy. We will see if there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with my car, or if it is just normal for the 2008 Prius. JOANNA |

Friends: 10 | The 2008 Prius is mechanically identical to the 2004. The EPA ratings changed in 2008 because the EPA changed thier test. Not because the 2008 performs differently than the earlier models. |

There are so many variables that affect mileage: Tire pressure AC Windows open over 35mph and most importantly is the drivers skill at maximizing the abilities of a Prius. My partner gets 20% less mpg than I do on a regular basis. Prior to getting the PHEV installed I could have a nice 45mpg average going and in one trip he will drop it down to 35-37. Since you seem to be an extremely skilled Prius driver I think you will have no problem adding 40%+ to your current MPG averages. I'm looking forward to you getting your system installed & broken in. Your reports should be an interesting read.

I agree that different drivers will get different results. But in this particular case, setting the Cruise Control to 55 MPH, should not yield drastically different results. In the mean time, I am the one enjoying the reports that yourself and Joanna are providing. I am only in a position to sit on the sidelines for then next week or so.

Pressed reset button as soon as I started the car (cold start). Then waited for the car to charge before leaving house in EV. I think the kit is getting better with each trip. This time I got 99.9 MPG after 10 miles just like before, however, I got an additinal 11 more miles and 1 full hour of juice before it ran out. Awesome!! Okay, this kit rocks. ![]() JOANNA

Friends: 4 | IMHO, Yes. You can see much better in what the Car is doing. Like you, the Hymotion does not have a user interface for the pack. There is also a Scanguage for Dummies thread over at CleanMPG. I need to go back and see if I can display fuel usage in thousands of a gallon. Chris |
