Hi everyone,

I've been on this board for a few months, and I have my first question.

I have an 07. The other night, I was driving and decided that the screen was a little too much of a distraction for me. So, I had seen the "Screen Off" setting. I hit screen off, and the next morning, I couldn't get it to come back on. I have tried every combination of buttons I can think of, but I can't get the darn screen to come back on. I even tried the Owners Manual (my wife knew it was serious when she saw the manual out!)...nada.

So, am I missing something? Is there a way to turn the screen back to it's on setting without pulling the power to the display? I can see all my sub-menus, but I can't see the main level that tells me my fuel usage.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

Hit screen info button and then the trip info and then you should be ok.

IAO's got it right.

I, too, always thought it was a little bit too much work to get the screen back on again. If there's a "screen off" button, there should also be a "screen on" button (that's labeled something other than "Trip Info"). Although, I suppose if I'm finding something like this to complain about, it means I'm pretty happy with my car.

Lol I actually yelled that out when I got frustrated because I accidentally turned of the mfd and was unable to get it back.

let's all step back and take a deep breath, and think about it:

the screen would have to be on for the screen to have a "screen on" button.

As I recall, on my base model, hitting any hard button around the screen turn it on if it's off. Audio, climate, info, display.

Well I cant help it I was mad at the time and that is what happened and I was going to have to drive without seeing my instant mpg and bar graph at the end of my trip. I know that was trivial but I was just back from Iraq and under a ton of stress at work and with personal matters so little things would set me off. Im fine now with a little therapy.

Now that I know how the thing works I could car less how it is set up.

The problem is not getting the screen to momentarily come back on (as it will if it is off and you hit one of the buttons on the side of the screen). The problem is getting it to stay on. The only way that I'm aware of to do that is to go to the "Info" screen and hit the "Trip Info" button on that screen. I feel like if pushing "Display" gives me an option to turn it off, pushing it while the screen is off should give me an option to turn it on.

As I said, it's a very minor complaint, but it's a minor irritant never the less.

Ah. I wonder if this is related to the screen option for "bouncing back to nav". I don't have nav, but I turned that feature off anyway--and it stopped the entire behavior of bouncing back to the trip info screen no matter what, which was the behavior it used as it was delivered to me.

I suspect that "bounce back" option is ON for you, so when you hit climate or audio it lights up for a few seconds and then bounces back automatically to where it was before--which was off.

Hmmm...in my 2006 I just press the INFO button on the steering wheel to turn it back on. Mine's an option pkg. #6, though...I guess the option #1 doesn't have the steering wheel buttons...Nevermind, sorry.

Hopefully you have it figured out now...

Yup...first option was it...I just reset the trip, and it came back on. And Betelgeuse, you're right...I am a former musclecar owner who is EXTREMELY happy with my new car, and if that's all I find that I don't like, well, we're in good shape!

Gratzie guys; enjoy your cars!
