I know it's been more than a year and 16,000 miles but I've got a noob question.

Does the green light on the Start button stay on once the car is started or have I just noticed the darkness?

I have donned my asbestos underwear awaiting your reply.

Thanks.

As I recall, the light goes out when the vehicle is in READY mode.

The light on the power button is Green in ACC mode, Amber in IGN-ON mode, and off in Ready mode.

And here's another fun fact: the ring around the power button glows orange when your foot is on the brake.

I was about to reply that it stays on continuously once the car is started....hmmm, guess I'll have to just look next time I drive.

Are you sure that's for the Prius? I've never noticed an orange ring. I know for the GS (hybrid or not), the light is green and turns amber when your foot is on the brake signifying it's ready for ignition.

My start button regurgitates fish in ACC mode and spits water when I brake if the ambient temp is higher than 95F.

Um, yeah, I'm quite sure my car is a Prius.

I just checked my 2007 model - the power light was green and stayed green even with my foot on the brake. It definitely went out when the ready light came on. I also do not have any separate ring light.

After realizing that others weren't seeing the 'ring', I looked at mine a bit more carefully, and see that it only comes on under very specific circumstances... such as when the car is in the garage, and the chrome bezel reflects the light from the brake lamps.
