Default HID light replacement

First post, I have a 06 prius with HID head lights and after paying $350 at the dealer for a replacement the other one is burning out. Does any one have a part number and a source for a replacement?
Thanks for the help

Cool Re: HID light replacement

Hi Eric, welcome to PriusChat. Use the Search function (third from the right at the top of the page) to find several posts. Recently someone here bought HID lamps on eBay and installed them himself. As I recall, the price was under $100.

Is HID under warranty?

Just 2 years for a HID be gone, even for the bulb only, seems a bit too early? Maybe you should find out since you're still under 3/36k for your 06 Prius (unless you're already over 36k in miles).

i bought 5500K replacement bulbs on ebay, for 89 bucks. i have an extra OEM bulb.

The key installing these bulbs isnt to touch the glass.

the socket type is D2S i believe, or D2R most of the time they make the bulbs to support both D2R and D2S

D2S and D2R is just the standard, for the bulb.

its like buying a candle type bulb for your chandelier, its a standard size and connector.

Is there a way to tell which I have? Do I need to pull the old one out and look for a number?

Your Owner's Manual should say. My 2007 Owner's Manual says that the HID bulb is D4R.
