Friends: 0 | I am 6'5 and own a Generation 2 Toyota Prius. I got tired of waiting for someone to make me a extender so I made them myself. If you are reading this, you are probably over 5”11 and are just a bit too crampled in a Prius however you love the car and the MPG. Now with a simple installation using only a 9/16 wrench and 30 mintues, you can love to drive your Prius. The new bracket enables the drivers seat to extend 4" inches farther back. The car seat still works sliding back and forth and is bolted back to the car using the same factory bolts. I made these out of thick 10 guage stainless steel. After the modification; the car is a dream to drive. I drive an hour to work and home and i fell in love with the car all over again! I can either complete the install for you at our plant or ship you the product along with instructions. I have attached some photos for you to see. you can see the before and after photos of factory/extended. What a difference! Generation 2 Toyota Prius Car Seat Extenders Price $195 Ships within 3-5 business days sales@extendmyseat.com |

Whether you offered the photos or not, they are essential to establish any credibility on this matter... You need to get them posted hurry-up quick. Also, I presume that the extensions are "For off road use only," to CYA. | |

Friends: 22 | I went to the website, read the text and looked at the photos. Interesting approach. From what I can tell, you didn't weld extensions of the existing seat rails (like nyprius, cycledrum and other(s) have done), but instead you bolted the seat onto full length brackets that essentially moved the entire range of travel of the seats 4 inches further back. 1. Does the use of brackets raise the height of the seats, and if so, by how much? 2. Also, is it possible to order one that moves the seat rails back fewer than 4 inches? My guess is that most people would not want to see the most forward position pushed back 4 inches. For instance, nyprius moved the seat rails back 3 inches, and cycledrum moved his back 2.5 inches, and I believe that the 2010 Gen III seats go 2.5 inches further back as well.

I've expressed interest in these to Griffin by e-mail. I'm awaiting a video for installation instructions to be posted on his web site before I commit. This mechanically challenged person is easily intimidated. Meanwhile, I'm interested in hearing from others on the safety issues raised here. His approach is different in that the factory rails are not modified. Other issues could remain. Griffin assures me that none of the wiring (including air bag sensors) is altered and that the 10g steel is more than strong enough to withstand crash forces. Being too far aft for side air bag deployment to be effective is not an issue; I don't have them. As for front air bag deployment, because of their presumed safety margin and their need to be effective for a wide range of torso sizes (mine is not the largest but by no means is it the smallest), I'm not too concerned there either. Also, is it possible to order one that moves the seat rails back fewer than 4 inches? --we can manufacture extension that are less than 4" however the beauty of our product is that the sliders still are operational. So you can extend the seat "one click or up to 4 inches". My guess is that most people would not want to see the most forward position pushed back 4 inches. --We are tracking the feedback and if a second bracket needs to be manufactured to go back only 2" then we can make that possible no problem. thank you and I look forward to helping you and everyone else looking to extend their drivers seat. |
