2010 Toyota Prius ABS Brake Recall in Less Than a Minute

Submitted by Danny on February 10, 2010 - 1:48pm.

PriusChat received early access to the 2010 Prius brake ECU software update yesterday and we have some information and video to share from the experience. The most important thing to state is that the upgrade is simple and easy. If you have ever upgraded the firmware on any piece of electronics, the process is very similar.

The process was so easy, in fact, that I was able to create a video about it and keep it under a minute.

Here are the simple steps:

  1. The Toyota Technician will plug the Techstream computer into the ODBII connector on your Prius
  2. The computer will do a "Health Check" to make sure the Prius checks out OK
  3. The tech will initiate a process to upload the updated brake ECU software to the 2010 Prius
  4. A final "Status List" will be created showing system statuses and whether your Prius needs any Service Campaigns. It won't since you just applied the update.

Notes: Before the update, your Brake ECU software version will most likely be F152647103 (or something similar), and after the update it will be F152647106. The official name for the update is SSC-A0B.

Special thanks to Scott Clark Toyota and my tech Mike Allen for working me in for the update.
