Shows WARNING PS Main and the triangle/ exclamation point. Every once in a while the car says 'bong!' and displays 'Problem.'
Car sometimes turns on its headlights on its own, if the switch is left on. Weird!
    I have a J2534 cable and TechStream 9.00.
I am not a professional mechanic but I can do brakes, oil changes etc.

About a month ago, we got the PS Main error display. It did not go away after 5-10 starts so I bought a J2534 cable and tested. C1259 (ABS error code meaning problem with regenerative braking) showed up.

Almost every time I start the car, it will not start the first time; the engine does not stir at all. It starts just fine the second turn of the key.

C1259 is the only code. I've read that this generally means that there is a problem with the HV ECU. There are no error codes in the HV ECU or the HV battery. Is there anything I can look for in the live data or utilities to find problems?

The Gen 1 Prius has a chipped standard key, and YES, you turn the key.
You can also turn a fob, I turn mine face up all the time before I insert it. :)
